Bank Letter vs Bank Statement
Hi guys,
Just received a message from Amazon verification.
They want the following:
– A scanned copy of a certified bank letter for the primary contact person. The document must meet all the criteria listed below:
- Dated within the last 180 days.
- Signed or stamped by the bank.
- Shows the bank name or logo.
- Shows the account holder’s name, residential address, and bank account number.
What is a ‘certified bank letter’?
I’m assuming it’s not just a bank statement.
How do I attain this letter? Do I just walk in to my local branch and say I need this letter?
Thanks

Starling has an option to download a ‘Bank Confirmation Letter’ which we used several years ago

If you go into a local branch, they will probably put you in touch with a business banker and they will send out a prescribed letter to you.
Most banks are now familiar with this as it is part of due diligence. You will find it is not only Amazon asking for this sort of stuff now when you are wishing to expand.

The certified bank letter is a letter written by the bank to prove your ownership of the account . The document must meet the following requirements: • A certified bank statement must be dated within the last 90 days. • Signed or stamped by the bank. • Shows the bank name or logo.

Hello @Stallion_March
Thank you for writing to us. This is Jennie from Amazon.
With all the aforementioned information, I understand that the team has requested you to submit the bank letter to verify the identity.
To obtain a bank confirmation letter from your bank you may request in-person at a bank branch from one of the bankers, by a phone call to the bank, and depending on the financial institution, through their online platform.
As @JR_Wristbands @NEil mentioned above, please contact your bank and they will help you with the bank letter.
Thank you @LTT @JR_Wristbands @NEil for all your informative inputs.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Jennie.

So I’m in the same situation. I’ve rang Halifax today and they’ve clearly said we no longer do certified bank letters. Clearly. They ONLY SUPPLY BANK STATEMENTS stamped signed etc. so I am stuck too :). Amazon support isn’t very helpful either.

It looks as if Amazon have started to accept bank statements now for verification. This is what I was asked for after I complained about the whole bank certified letter not existing. Bank statements are fine now thankfully!
