TERRIBLE experience with Amazon Seller Central - do not sign up!
My husband and I have tried to set up a sellers account for 3 months now. We have contacted support 5 times now, always via webchat as they won’t let you speak to an actual person. Every time we do that, they tell us all our account details are correct and then we receive a notification saying our account is still “pending verification”. We are unable to list or sell anything, yet we have been charged now on 4 separate occasions!! I just want to cancel the account now but can’t even get through to anyone, with their new web support tool.
If you’re thinking about setting up a seller account as a “quick win”, DON’T DO IT!
Trust us it’s not worth the effort…

Please be aware that full verification is taking 2/3 months at the moment at least, if you have chosen the pro account, you can downgrade to the individual plan to stop the £30 coming out every month during verification.
Every time you contact Amazon chasing them, it resets your date stamp you slip down the waiting list.
It is very difficult but you just have to be patient. Have a look in the new sellers verification section on the forums, there are hundreds in the same situation to you

Amazon isn’t the place for a quick win, the youtube videos telling you that its easy to make a million in your first month is rubbish

Also worth noting that any issue you come across in the future will also be a terrible experience with Amazon

You are fortunate to have found this out now. Amazon is not what people think it is.
At one time it was a professional company with a professional business ethos. Now it is an unethical company run by crooks and incompetents.
I’ve been here 10 years and the experience has gone from very good to extremely poor.
I’m running my stock down and moving on to better things. I wouldn’t advise anyone to start selling on Amazon.

I have noticed a lot of eBay migrations recently but they are like chalk and cheese. Amazon is not the same as Ebay. Ebay you can sell your old underpants and someone would buy any old junk on there. Amazon is a partnership designed to allow other businesses to sell on their platform to their customers.

Holy Moly - You have the same issue as me. 4 months now they refunded me 2 sets of the £30 monthly fee as it’s not fair they charge when I cant sell. Then this month they started taking $47.99… without telling me how the hell I am supposed to know what that is for!! Also CS say that i have not been charged! (I have).
I’ve now contacted CS 8 times and I have emails saying my account is full verified but it’s clearly not and states its not on my account page. It’s like this account is stuck in some form of limbo…
The CS is complete bull, they mark things as answered when they’re clearly not!
Help anyone…Please

Haha, anyone selling on Amazon as a “quick win” are in the wrong game.
I’m glad they have thorough verification processes as it protects customers and the integrity of our own businesses.
3 months during a global pandemic is hardly a long time realistically.

i contacted Amazon customer services recently as their system re-lists books that we no longer have in stock ( this has been going on over two year ) This last instance , i contacted them 3 weeks ago and they still haven’t bothered to reply ! i would never recommend selling on Amazon , we sell far more through ebay these days . ( THEIR COSTS ARE ALSO CHEAPER AND ITS EASIER TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT )

Amazon support is diabolical. If you chat to them, count on the fact:
Associate will not understand your query.
Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours online.
Associate will just send you links to info.
When denied approval for anything, they will not tell you why. I’ve spent 3 months getting my brand registered. Refused each time, only after 3 months realised that my letters of authorisation had the name of company (me) and brand wrong way around.
Furthermore, they can deactivate your account at a click, so if you invested tens of £££ on stock, be careful!
I fully understand they want to protect buyers, but there is no logic sometimes.
I wanted to move my product listings from handmade to professional as I have variations to make it easier for buyers and so I do FBA completely…including Amazon labelling. After 3/4 months, I haven’t been able to. So I still have the same product, listed 10 times because there’s 10 colours!
I’ve lost hundreds of hours trying…and now just resigned to the fact, it’s not going to work.

Also be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to solve issues/problems that you never created in the first place
