Is it normally this quiet in August (sales)
Yes, I know another post regarding sales, apologies.
This is my first year (well a couple of months) selling on co.uk so I have no year-on-year sales data to compare … but is it generally this quiet in August?
I’m thinking it’s probably to do with the holiday season - but wanted to get the thoughts of other sellers.
Thanks in advance.

Based on the past few years our sales in august start to increase, they aren’t in season products really but its packaged as a gift item. As weird as it sounds customers usually start buying now for Christmas. This month compared to previous years so far for us is slow.
With covid its hard to see what will happen, I have the feeling people are spending their money on holidays at the moment (while they can) I think we’ll be in for a massive late rush of Christmas sales this year though when people have finally paid off their last minute holidays.

It depends what you sell, and sometimes on which sites. For instance, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that sales of inflatable swimming pools were up during the recent UK heatwave.
In our case, sales are always lower in the summer. Having said that, August has begun more strongly than July. Maybe we just won a few more buy boxes than normal.

For us yes, every year it drops during the summer holidays.

For me yes. Worst July and Aug in many years. It’s getting harder every year because every man and his dog sells on Amazon plus China sellers with their 99p tea towels etc doesn’t help. I realise it’s competition and tough luck, but I find it all too hard now.
Possibly just a few years left in the game for me then calling it a day. The red tape literally ruins your life, eats away every hour. Not worth it. I had my first holiday in years recently and guess what? Amazon demanded certificates for REACH conformity (which actually DOESN’T APPLY to sterling silver). Literally ruined the entire trip and resulted in me in tears sat at my laptop. Still trying to resolve as we speak. (2000+ certificates would cost me around 400k! Which of course is impossible. So I’m praying my suppliers will certify the products and it’ll be accepted)
I can’t wait to escape it. But for now I’ve SO much stock to shift and I don’t want to miss out on the Christmas season (I wouldn’t survive the rest of the year if it wasn’t for Christmas sales)
But I can’t deny Amazon opened doors for me and I have a portfolio of properties 100% thanks to selling here. So I really shouldn’t grumble. But I wish we were treated better.
