Damaged by Amazon
I sell 7" scale action figures which are not toys
These are collectibles bought by adults circa £50 each
They come in display boxes with a hanging tab
I send them into FBA in cartons so I know they are perfect when Amazon gets them
I am getting a number of returns where the customer has reported a damaged box prior to delivery
The product is fine inside but the hanging tab has been torn off presumably for ease of packing
Consequently, they are returned to me as unsuitable to be returned to stock
Has anyone else had similar problems and managed to get Amazon to sort/respond/compensate

Unfortunately, this kind of problem is on yourself I’m afraid.
You need to ensure that when sending the items to Amazon, this kind of thing can’t happen.
So your solution, will be to prepack the items in some way, to prevent this kind of thing happening.
At the end of the day, all Amazon will do, is to whack them into a box/bag as is and if they get damaged in transit, it’s your fault.
Whether that’s right or wrong is immaterial, it is the way it is.
I do have some sympathy for this, but this is exactly why they have the packaging guidelines.

Have to agree with Neil
As far as Amazon are concerned the box is there to product the inside, it is there solely to protect the product from damage, and doesn’t matter if it gets torn/dented/damaged/dirty etc as long as the action figure itself doesn’t.
There is many times I have received the product with the mailing label simply stuck onto the box, so you can count yourself lucky its just missing the hanging tab and didn’t get a 6x4 label stuck to it!
In your case the box is part of the product, so you need to pack it in such a way the box itself is protected. If it was me I’d be packing it in another box.in a way that it couldn’t move around.
Essentially Amazons staff (and indeed robots) aren’t looking to see if you product needs special care and attention, or is fragile, or breakable, or collectible etc - you need to pack it so it doesn’t matter how it is treated. In fact I think one of their guidelines says it needs to survive a 2m drop, I’m sure someone can correct me on the height as I’m sure its wrong, but my point is you are supposed to pack it so they don’t have to care…
