Do Amazon run Google ads?
Hi everyone,
I hope all are well.
I sell products for a brand on Amazon but recently they have noticed Google ads for Amazon. We don’t run any Google ads. Do Amazon run these to drive traffic to their platform etc? How can we stop this?
Thank you

Yes they do .
Why would you want to stop it ?

There won’t be a means to stop it. Amazon will apportion a percentage of our referral fees to spend on google ads. While a lot of searches start on amazon, not all do. One assumes if this product is appearing in google ads, amazon must believe the ads are worthwhile.
You can’t stop them.

You pay the referral fee to them because of the traffic they get to the site.
Why would you want them to stop running ads?
You do not pay for these, if that is what you are thinking, its part of the service of listing here

Thank you for your reply. It’s because it is causing issues with the Google ads the brand runs for its own website etc

Just be glad you don’t get charged an extra 12% to 15% fee + VAT on TOP of the standard fee, if you get a sale from an ‘offsite ad’ - when you use Etsy. Earn more than $10k and you can’t opt out. You/they be glad a sale is a sale and at least here, the fees are spread across us all.

Amazon drives traffic from multiple external channels including Google Ads and pays from its pocket to get extra eyeballs for your product page.
However, if your client wants to stop Amazon using their brand name in Google Ads, they will have to file for Trademark Infringement at Google by providing the Trademark details but it is a long shot still.
