Amazon Logistics Tracking

Why do Amazon not provide an interface for their own tracking? Its like they want to absolve themselves of anything to do with their own service. They want you to use their services for all your fulfilment needs but wont overtly provide their tracking and don't seem to accept it themselves as proof of delivery.
