Prepare for the new General Product Safety Regulation
If you sell non-food products in the EU and Northern Ireland, you’ll be required to meet General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requirements in 2024.
On December 13, 2024, the GPSR will introduce new requirements for most non-food consumer products.
To comply with the regulation, you’ll be required to do the following by December 13, 2024:
- Ensure all the products you sell in the EU and Northern Ireland meet existing labelling and traceability requirements.
- Have an EU Responsible Person for those products.
- Label the products with the contact information of the Responsible Person, the manufacturer, and, if applicable, the importer.
- Label products with the type, batch or serial number.
- Label products with safety information and warnings, where applicable, in the language of the country of sale.
- Display the Responsible Person information and the manufacturer’s name and contact details for each product in online listings.
- Display a product picture and any other information needed to identify the product in online listings.
- Display warning and safety information in online listings, in the language of the country of sale.
To prepare for this regulation to take effect, we recommend that you complete the first five requirements as soon as possible. In early 2024, we’ll update you with instructions on how to complete requirements 6 to 8.

I've escaped the EU responsible person malarkey so far but now, we will all have to incur more costs to assign one and change all packaging to add their contact details. Incredible!
If I could switch off Northern Ireland, I would, but as far as I know, this is not possible for FBA. I would also have to switch off FBA Export and lose even more sales.
A ridiculous situation.

It would be helpful if Amazon can clarify that if we switch off FBM sales for Northern Ireland and EU that sellers will not be impacted by this. To expand on this if sellers are only selling to England, Scotland and Wales they will not be required to add responsible person information.
For FBA orders will it be possible to restrict sales to Northern Ireland going forward so that sellers are able to opt out of this regulation?

Hi all,
Like many, as much as this would be a real shame, it would be more cost effective to simply stop supplying to NI.
We are a small glove brand, and the costs associated with all this just don't make sense. Issue being, we have probably 600 - 700 SKUS, and the RP pricing seems to be per product - but is that "gloves" / "particular parent glove style" / "child variant by colour" / "every SKU".
I look at all this, and being honest, it makes my head hurt! Hoping there is an easy solution or a much more "janet and john" actions list which is easy to follow...

Perhaps it is now time to nag Trade Associations and your MP to try to get Northern Ireland in line with the UK, or to let them be independant, and not part of the UK any longer, in any way. This middle ground already has had too many issues, how can the dividing line be in the North Sea!
We no longer sell to the EU on Amazon since Brexit, loss of business, but saved us many claims for losses, and we will be willing to lose all orders to NI, if it saves all the issues stated here.
I would rather NI was just part of the UK, as should have been the agreement as part of the Brexit break up, but if not, remove the NI option to sell there on Amazon is the best solution.
I can see most manufacturers either only sell to the UK (without NI), or, stop selling to the UK if it becomes too much of a burden, and just sell to the EU, so do we all need to trade from NI instead?
Amazon Mods, can you find out a way to sell in the UK, except NI ? - and if not, get that implimented, otherwise from December 2024, most UK Sellers in England, Wales and Scotland I can see will have all their stock removed from sale on Amazon (as it does not even say all existing stock will be exempt as should be the case)
