Amazon charged me $888 customs on SEND shipment — expected $20!

Hi everyone

I used Amazon SEND with UPS to ship a small parcel from the UK to the US (paw balm). The expected customs charge was around $20, but Amazon suddenly charged me $898 for “customs/brokerage” with no invoice or explanation.Has anyone else had Amazon charge such a high amount for SEND international shipments? How did you get this resolved?

Thanks!

We have now confirmed the issue. Amazon’s customs broker mistakenly cleared our UK made products as China origin, which triggered the 9903.85.68 duty at 200 percent. Because of this mistake, we were charged almost 2000 USD across three UPS invoices.Since these shipments were sent through the Amazon UPS Partnered Carrier Program, UPS told us they cannot help and that only Amazon can correct the customs entry. We have already sent everything to Seller Support and requested escalation. But not help, Amazon Jeeps saying we have to deal with UPS.

A simple warning to other sellers: be very careful when using the Partnered Carrier Program for shipments from the UK to the US. A customs error like this can cost you a lot, and you are not in control of the customs clearance process. Only Amazon Seller Support can fix it.

Forum moderators, could you please please please help connect us with the Partnered Carrier Team? This mistake has cost us nearly 2000 USD and we urgently need Amazon’s assistance.Hope this helps others avoid similar problems.
