Product variation listing not appearing in organic search
After recently launching a color variation of a product that has been selling, I have noticed even though the new color variant is selling and shows the same sales rank as the original color variant, it does not appear in the listings other than as a sponsored ad.
I have been through all 20 pages of results and have only found (organically) the first original color listing visible. The only time the new color variant appears is when it’s a sponsored listing - other than that it is invisible.
Question 1: Is this normal because it is a variant?
Question 2: I am running separate sponsored ad campaigns for each color, can anyone advise if I should I just run one campaign for both variants?
Thanks for reading, any suggestions are welcome

When you have a listing with variants, only the best performing variant will show in organic search results, or that’s how I think it works. It seems to work like that for us anyway. If a more experienced seller could clarify, that would be super helpful.
The ad campaigns can be ran together, targeting the different colour keywords. So if you’re selling blue and red mugs and someone searches for a blue mug, the blue mug will show instead of the better performing red mug. Very simplistic example of course, but you get the idea.
