What can I put on a product card insert?

What is allowed to be included on a product insert card?

When you watch the Product insert compliance video it does not talk about anything other than reviews. It does not mention social media links, websites that are not sales websites. It says nothing, really and I have read other users asking the same thing and the mods respond

"---- from the Community Manager Team here and the best resource for what types of inserts are and type not in policy can be found in the Product insert compliance Seller University video."

However the video does not answer whether I can put social media links on the cards. And when someone follows up after watching the video and ask the mods to be more specific. The mods respond

"The Product insert compliance Seller University video discusses the policy on adding inserts to your product or product packaging.

Since you as the seller are ultimately responsible for the product and all that is contained in the packaging, I recommend that you review the Seller University video that provides the policy and make the decision that is correct for you and your business."

So the video does not answer the question the mods do not answer the question and when pressed on it they still do not answer.

So I checked the seller code of conduct and there is no mention of social media and the like. All it says is

"Circumventing the sales process

You may not attempt to circumvent the Amazon sales process or divert Amazon customers to another website. This means that you may not provide links or messages that prompt users to visit any external website or complete a transaction elsewhere."

Which implies I cannot put links to any external website on my card, on my packaging or anything, but I know almost all the big brands do put their website on things. Nike does and Nike has a store on it, Amazon is never going to punish Nike I would have to be a naive idiot to think that they would or that Nike and I are comparable or expect Nike and I to be treated equally. But I know midrange companies that put their websites on their bags and Amazon does not punish them. So that means I know why the mods do not answer clearly because of the aformentioned big brand issue. I just want to know as a social enterprise (charity that makes money) is it o.k. for me to create social media links to the social side. So if my social enterprise has to do with protecting dogs or libraries and our money goes there would it be wrong for me to post a link on the cards to a social media feed that is just tons of cute puppies or people reading classic literature.

Please answer if you have a clear answer I have read the Amazon materials and the like and I am just looking for a clear answer on this issue, not a link to a video or a page that spends 10 minutes to say nothing.

Thanks.

With the below essentially being the policy at a high level, I have concerns that directing customers to social media could be construed as a separate communication channel outside of Amazon.

  • Soliciting reviews or feedback, or implying you may offer incentives like discounts in exchange for a review or positive feedback, and
  • Re-directing customers to communication channels outside of Amazon

It would be unusual for a product to NOT have a website/facebook link, etc. on the packaging itself...would this be considered directing customers outside of Amazon, etc.?

Rhetorical question...

Amazon's policies regarding inserts are so vague that they literally could cover almost anything you put on them and potentially lead to a suspension. I would seriously avoid this practice because of it, not worth the risk.

I love how the mod chimed in with the vague link you asked to be clarified with almost NO clarification.

I understand it to be this: the difference is seller inserts or manufacturer inserts.

Seller inserts: no links to external sites,

Manufacturer inserts/packaging: as per the original manufacturer packaging, if it includes links that is allowable.

If it is your brand I understand Amazon to be more lenient, but no fluff like "but this cheaper off Amazon here" or "50% discount coupon", it has to be packed in a way that would be the same anywhere it is sold.
