I had buy box but got no sales on hot product

Hi! i listed an existing product FBA which has about 20 sales per day according to AMZscout extension. i had only 4 units available and rest of them are reserved and got buy box for 2 days but GOT ONLY 2 ORDERS IN 2 DAYS with pending status (payment pending), I think if there are 20 sales per day my 4 units should sell in 1 hour. Please help me friends.
Thanks.

Quite normal for FBA. Sometimes it’s an issue with payment, but it can also be non-Prime orders, someone with a larger order who wants everything in one box etc

Don’t forget that things like AMZScout are not 100% accurate. Even AMZScout have an article on their website saying they themselves are less than 80% accurate. I think they also struggle with variations - it’s possible for example for a red jumper to be selling the 20 units a day and the blue one to be selling 20 units a month - since their sales rank is shared as they are variations then anyone wanting to sell the blue one is likely to be disappointed.

Also, it’s highly possible you did not own 100% of the buybox for those two days. With only 4 units available for a lot of buyers your products would be too far away and they would see a different buybox winner.

Equally if you were in the buybox it’s possible for a buyer to choose a different seller if they don’t like you being a newer seller.

Edit - you aren’t obliged to answer any questions asked of you, but it is worth considering at least why the question may be being asked.

Yeah maybe you’re right about AMZscout. but the product is like top 25 in it’s category on best seller page + i did not know about the buyers who are too far away from the amazon warehouse and is it possible that my competitors are getting their sales through ads from their own online stores which are linked to amazon product page?
thank you very much Demel and the_little_shop for his precious time and reply.

One of the things that can determine the buybox is buyer location vs stock location. Let’s say i have 4 books in stock and they are all in a warehouse in Bristol. A buyer who lives in Devon sees that I am in the buybox when they look at my product - all is well and they likely buy from me. If the buyer instead lives in Scotland and my competitor has their books stored nearer to the buyer, then all other things being equal they may see my competitor has the buybox.

The sales rank on a listing represents all sales made on Amazon of that product. It doesn’t really matter how the buyer ended up there.

Can we just chat? how old are you? What do you do? do you have your own e-commerce business like Amazon FBA?

That kind of reminds me of the type of posts that were common in chat rooms when dial-up first started - “A/S/L”. Maybe it’s still used today. At least that dates me somewhat and partially answers one of your questions I guess.

Generally though, although I aim to help where I can i’m not looking to network or make friends. Experience has taught me that you can start getting some weird PMs from other forum users on here and they have excessive expectations of how much help I should be offering.

That’s a friendly way of saying MYOB

i just thought that Amazon forum is way better place to have a conversation or networking than random people on streets. and there is nothing wrong in knowing random knowledgeable nice people. i hope you do great in life.
goodnight Brah

Unbelievable response to the help offered!
Seriously @The_Little_Shop I don’t know why you bother half the time, I really don’t.
I think we can all see where this is going to go…

I’ve also had a similar issue with a product I’ve been selling at like 20 per day in past, but now 0 to 2 a day, but the product has similar sub1000 rank and similar number of sellers sharing buy box FBA price. Not sure what is happening - theories I have so far include that I haven’t uploaded HFSS data yet, that maybe amazon is prioritising sellers with short expiry dates, or that other sellers stock is better distribution between fulfilment centres.

Hello,

Thank you all for your posts.

@Zaination the sellers that post on the forum are not paid by Amazon for their contributions, they give up their free time to help others. I would request that you be respectful of all users on the forum.
You can easily identify Amazon employees by the Amazon icon and reviewing the user profile.

In reference to your opening post, having the buy box does not guarantee you will receive orders. Many buyers will have various reasons as to which seller they choose to purchase from. When I am selecting a product to purchase my decision is not just based on price, it can also be where the item is being shipped from and how long it will take to reach me, in addition to shipment fees. @strategicinvestment mentioned theories that they have for their number of sales but no one can give a definite answer.

As mentioned by @The_Little_Shop there can be many reasons why you are not receiving as many orders as you might expect which is why providing additional information can be useful to others when you are seeking advice or help on the forum.

@Demel “A/S/L” has just given me flashbacks, and never mind the dial up tone that popped into my head!

To prevent this thread going any further off topic I will close it. Thank you again to those of you that have provided advice! :slightly_smiling_face:

Jessica
