Hi
Anyone else had the email saying that from tomorrow we need permission to sell Playstation products?
How are you supposed to get their required documents whewn you buy from car boots/charity shops/marketplace etc.
I’m a sole trader/reseller who sells board games and the odd bits of media if i get them including some old PS2/PS3 games.
They have already taken board games away, now Playstation stuff. Might as well just close us little resellers down.
Maybe thats what they want anyway.
Hi there chap.
I have just had the exact same email which having myself sold some ps4 consoles and games and knowing that I will have been selling more of these items, it really does concern me as this was one of the bigger priced items that I do sell.
Can anyone shed light on this?
Very worried being that I am too a small reseller of PlayStation goods, this will hurt unless the limitations will just be on games? or the PS5 unit.
It’s just getting beyond a joke now.
All listings removed tomorrow I got unless I get permission
I feel genuinely sorry for people who spend a lot of money on stock and it can be just taken away from you at the click of a button.
I’m lucky that I happened to get all of my games at a low price in a huge haul and have already made on it, but I think their will be a lot of angry and upset people wake up to the news in the morning.
Didn’t the same happen with Nintendo last year and then it was either withdrawn or changed soon after they announced it?
Far as I can tell it’s only games published by Sony not all Playstation games. It’s already been the same for Microsoft and sometimes EA for many years now.
We sell retro Playstation consoles all the time and have not had any email. However, nor have we had any Playstation stocks since before Christmas due to lockdown. Can you post a copy of said email as it would be interesting to see? This has happened with some Sony products previously, such as the PS4 and Nintendo previously too, with regards to the Switch (as @Demel says) but also a number of other products have been prevented from sale such as Microsoft, Panasonic and others.
This is a problem created by greedy, price gouging sellers, like those in the link posted by @Kevanden, who come along and buy a console or three when they are first released because of the difficulty in supply. They then ramp up the prices and make very swift profits in literally a matter of hours. I know of one case where a chap bought two consoles and made a profit of £200, on each one, within a few hours, by selling online.
It has happened before with loads of “must have” things. Anybody old enough will remember the dancing “Iggle Piggle” toy from In The Night Garden, or Buzz Lightyear, or the Nintendo 3DS. They’ve all been a feature of interest here and on the other place.
It just gets silly because you end up with games listed at ridiculous prices when you can buy them online on other platforms for a fraction of the price.
Already some games I have listed around 9.99 have gone up to 49.99 so I don’t think the buyers will have it.
Another stupid decision that will probably get quietly forgotten about soon.
Well, for what it’s worth; I’ve just done two test lists for a used PS2 and a used PS1 and both activated without issue. Obviously, I’ve deactivated them again (as I don’t have any stock lol) but the system is working exactly as it did before for me.
We have sold these things for 6 years so I don’t know if older sellers are being treated any differently?
I am also wondering whether they are going through those who sell playstation products in batches and sending the email, so some have not received it yet, as it does not make sence why some have got it and others haven’t. Its also wrong that you have less than 24 hrs to obtain approval before listings are deactivated
I do hope for all sellers sake, that this does not relate to all playstation products but if it does, that the approval process is painless quick and fair
Good luck to everyone

Perhaps could be because of this?
