Setting pre-orders for books 3-4 months in advance
Hello,
I'm trying to setup pre-orders for books with a release date of October 15th. I read threads on how that is not possible. You can't do it for books, and they need to be shipped within 30 days.
However, as a customer I have pre-ordered books on Amazon 4-6 months in advance.
Why was that possible? Were the books already in stock then? The reason for pre-orders is to help me manage the inventory that I will order.

Sorry, but Amazon allows pre-orders by Amazon, not by anyone else.

Michelle at Amazon here. I am happy to let you know that you can set up pre-orders for your book. You will just want to ensure that the book will be available the day you state it will be as you will be required to ship out your books to get to your customer on time. You can learn how to do this here. If you are the author for your book, you may also want to enroll in Author Central, which will provide you with other things that only authors are able to set up.
