Same EAN - country specific packaging
I want to sell an item in the UK, the brand is Italian.
When I type the EAN to add my listing - the item that appears has the same EAN, same item, but different packaging to the one I have.
I did some research - it turns out the packaging for UK is different from Italy - even though the product is exactly the same. I have confirmed this with the manufacturer.
Should I list them item under the UK listing? (I don’t want my customer complaining they got the wrong product).
If I create a new listing - Amazon seems to combine the new listing and the UK listing.
The rules around this are vague, so I’m not sure what to do - can someone please provide guidance
Thanks in advance.

Slight differences in packaging can have the same EAN. I would list against the UK listing then try to get the packaging photo either removed or updated.

The confusion is further compounded by Italian sellers who will acquire the goods in Italy (Italian packaging) and then sell to UK consumers - whilst the advertisement contains the UK branding.
I think the difference in branding was created by the manufacturer to control the distribution network.
So at the moment, I’m not sure what to do - can I reach out to Amazon on such an issue?

The product which you are selling needs to exactly match the listing in every detail.
If the manufacturer is selling all versions under the same EAN code, then you will need to create a new listing using a different barcode or request an GS1 exemption.
