Customer can't smell the scent

Customer has complained that the aroma oil they received has no scent. I can ask her to return but to smell it, they must have opened the bottle and broken the seal therefore it won’t be in its original condition. The product is a genuine branded article that sells well and this is the first time someone wants a refund for this. I have sold others from the same batch. Claiming that’s defective because they can’t smell the scent, it’s a bit subjective I mean they might have a cold or COVID. How does Amazon deal with these types of complaints, customers who don’t like a product’s scent? .

Just file a SATE-T claim for wrong code when it arrives if that’s the case & it’s refund on first scan… You have to accept returns at the end of the day. You need to take returns into account when choosing your prices.

How do you think they do…

I thought cosmetics fall in the exemption category

The same exclusions apply to our Returns Guarantee as for the right of withdrawal. The following products thus cannot be returned under the Returns Guarantee (unless defective):

  • Products which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygienic reasons if unsealed by you after delivery, or which are, after delivery, inseparably mixed with other items;

OK, now customer says they have thrown it away so they can’t return but wants a full refund

How can a customer smell the scent without breaking the seal? I’d say that the product is unfortunately one of those items that you have to bite the bullet. I send out clothing in sealed bags, I can’t blame the customer for opening a bag to try the garment on.

Now it appears that they have used it all and thrown away the bottle but didn’t enjoy it, therefore want a refund!
I could buy champagne from Amazon, drink it all and then claim a refund as I didn’t enjoy it.

Send 1 message simply stating that with no return, you cannot refund
Mark all other messages as no response needed
Await negative feedback
Move on and enjoy the weekend :grinning:

Restocking fee, deduct 50% of the refund. It’s in Amazon return policy, so you’ll be ok.

Accept it as part of the cost of selling on here, wipe your mouth with the back of your hand and move on. Spend your time working to sell more.

Sadly you get these things pop up from time to time… Use to get to me but now it’s just another day at the office… There’s a number from long time ago… can’t remember what it is… but it’s something like every 5p in the pound you spend in a supermarket is purely to cover shoplifting… can’t remember the number as was a few years ago I read it but something like that. I had one the other day… purchased 63 days ago! and because it’s before Jan 31st it’s under xmas returns still… said accessories missing… comment was “missing”… 100% nothing was missing as it’s 1 item and 1 part to go with it… Weight was correct on the scales… simply used it and wanted money back…
