Forums are so disfunctional you cannot even search and find a thread

say you remember what a thread was called verbatim and you try to use the search function, do you think you can find?

The answer is no.

Try it for yourselves?! I know of another business that I wanted to comment on there thread, they gave me the title (cut and pasted) can you find it, no.

The forum search is useless, I have said so many a time - never returns anything you are actually looking for.

The forum is awful in every way but it’s not a money maker for Amazon so as little time is spent In it as they can get away with.

It was built in-house so no there is not a competitive incentive to be better than the competition.

Is there anything not dysfunctional on this platform?

Hi DJC123,

My observation would be that the search works on any word in the string requested and will not search for the whole string whether you put it in quotes or not.

BUT I just did a search for "VTR" (which you would think was straightforward and easy, and most of the returned threads included VTR in the header or body BUT the FIRST one returned was headed "Re-activating my seller account" and did not appear to have VTR anywhere in it!

All Best

Brian

You would think that the forum has been deliberately designed to put sellers off from using it. The old forum was so much easier to use.

I'm beginning to think it's true of the entire site!

Catalogue search is also useless. It appears to be designed to make life easier for rip-off merchants and harder for honest sellers.

The time I've spent trying to update the catalogue has been largely wasted and I have finally decided enough is enough. I am gradually moving the bulk of my book stock away from Amazon. I hope to close my pro merchant account within the next few weeks, after which I will probably just hang on as a part-time seller.

Even though books were once Amazon's mainstay, it now appears to have little if any interest in policing its own book and media catalogue or keeping honest sellers onside.

Just add this to everything else on Amazon, inventory pages, seller support, catalogue team, errors everywhere, no understanding of branding or brands such as Spiderman being Marvel and yet only approval from Spiderman will do, how a company as incompetent as Amazon continues like this is a mystery to me, they must just have so much turnover that the millions wasted are not noticed.

Thank you. Yes, I totally agree with you. It feels like a bedtime story for the seller. At the very least, it's good to have a place where we can come and express our frustration, especially when the actual support should be coming from elsewhere like SS Team .
