Strange selling pattern

Hi all,

I am a small seller and I have had an “only one sale a day” selling pattern since a week ago. Each day - one sale, no more, no less… That has not happened to me before. There were days with no sales, days with nine sales. Is anyone else experience strange (unusual) selling patterns?

I wouldn’t make too much of it.
Even on our main site unless I’ve done a newsletter or promotion to boost sales most days sales are within about £200 of each other - it’s almost like there is a plateau on what we can naturally sell in a day.

Unfortunately, no one can tell why are you having such sales patterns, but according to my own experience, I am getting the highest amounts of orders from Friday to Monday as people have more time to browse during weekend.

In addition, having non-compliant images, titles or bullet points can result in your listings being suppressed from search. Amazon only recently announced that they will be enforcing their Product Title policies more strictly:

https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/headlines.html?id=5548436902472086875&ref=nslp_all_12_5548436902472086875_ttl

So I would suggest you to review your listings to ensure they are fully compliant.

I am not suggesting a “throttling” conspiracy… but here’s what happened to us recently.

We were in the midst of changing premises and saw a rise in sales. We sell FBA and FBM side by side so if our FBA stock is out everything can still be purchased via FBM.

Our FBA stock started to run down quickly and once it did sales of those items dried up completely. Yesterday we finally completed our FBA shipment to send in (it will take at least two more days to arrive at Amazon) and low and behold suddenly, out of the blue, those items we are sending in suddenly started selling again via FBM - almost as if Amazon was pushing them up the rankings in prep of FBA stock being available.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened and anecdotally, from our point of view, some sort of behind the scenes manipulation seems to be taking place… Although I’m sure the naysayers will be along to tell me I need to get a new tin foil hat.

Now it’s getting funny, my page viewers number increased in 2.5 times, but daily sales pattern stays the same - one order per day. Three days back someone placed second order the same day after one order
already happened, but hunging in pending since then…it looks like second sale is not allowed - over limit

glad im not the only one who’s noticed this, my monthly sales are always within a few hundred pounds, now that can’t just be a coincidence month in month out

I have a similar sales pattern - zero orders every day. I did sell something in July but it became an “item not received” so I made a loss on it. I’m a (very) small individual seller of used books and records but back in 2012-15 I regularly sold 5-10 items a month, which was fine as I’m only getting rid of stuff I no longer want. In the last couple of years sales have almost dried up completely despite my 100% feedback record. My items still appear in the listings but I have a theory that there is some mechanism that blocks sales or diverts them to alternative sellers. No evidence of course, just a theory.

There were a lot of threads on this subject a year or so ago when the word “throttling” came up a lot. There were lots of heated debates with some people arguing vehemently that amazon were not responsible for the pattern of sales.on the other hand there were people arguing equally vehemently that their sales were somehow being “throttled”.
I do not claim any inside knowledge but I am absolutely certain that there is some sort of limit set on some ( or possibly all ) sellers. I don’t know how it is worked but I assume that your products are only visible to potential buyers for a limited time.
There are amazon promotions which Amazon will increase your visibility. To do this I presume other sellers visibility is decreased.

Still the same “one item a day “ sale pattern. No more no less, just ONE every day. I have 200 lines and all sold items are from different lines…
