Trading from home business insurance

I trade from home, only doing mail order (no shows etc) I am looking for an insurance company that will insure my house and contents and stock. Most refuse as I trade from home and carry stock.I was with Dallas & Co (Brokers) but the premiums have gone sky high. Any suggestions? TIA

Direct line do small business insurance package.
But to be honest, a lot depends on exactly what it is you need and how much you need to cover.

Your best bet, is probably to start calling brokers.
And you really need cover for stock? Unless you are holding a lot of stock, I would be tempted to forget about it and self insure it.

I use Direct Line and they insure both the business stock and property

Are you trying to find one policy that covers both home and business?

You may also find it easier to insure home with one policy and business on a different policy.

I used to use Direct Line (separate policies for Home and Business) but recently moved Business policy to a different company via a broker. Direct Line were getting very ‘iffy’ about the fact I sold childrens toys (basically saying they would not insure me). I did a quote via a broker - and now I am paying a lot less than I was before.

I’m with LV and have specifically specified I work from home. I didn’t add cover for stock AFAIK, but it may still be an option.

I have separate business insurance (PLI, etc), of course.

I use Home Protect for my house insurance and have done for a number of years. You can get a quote online and declare you are using your property for business purposes.

The rates are reasonable paying only slightly more than a standard policy.

I use Towergate Insurance, consistently the most competitive quote. House insurance is with Aviva, they are fine with me running the business from home with the only stipulation being no customers to visit premises.

At last! Managed to sort out insurance, house & contents and stock, all with Direct Line, pretty easy on line and a phone call. Less than half of what I paid last year via Dallas Brokers.
