Customer ordered item on special delivery can I hand deliver?

Hi Guys, just received an order on Special Delivery, it is close enough to hand deliver, if I don’t add a tracking number which I cannot do will it affect my metrics? I would rather deliver it as it will be early and the item is the last one in stock and is no longer available, I know it will definitely get their early and undamaged

So long as it’s not SFP then you should be good to go.
The chances of getting scammed are actually very low, and a quick delivery may get you good feedback.

If you are not worried about a potential INR A-Z claim, which would be lost without having the proof of delivery, then there is nothing wrong about doing this.

Your metrics won’t be affected.

ive done this before and taken along a copy of the invoice for their signature if they are in. customers are usually really pleased to receive quickly.

Thanks guys i was just a little unsure about the tracking number on FBM Premium shipping I thought it had to be sent tracked, It is a low value order and being hand delivered I would be very surprised if they claimed an INR.

Again thank you for your quick replies guys

I did this once and the buyer took offence at me personally delivering the item. Hopefully your customer won’t be as malicious as the one I had but it’s something to consider.

I wouldn’t do it. Did it twice, a-z 1x, and paypal case 1x… Lesson learned. Items were around £40. I swear to God, now I would send it even to my next door neighbour, no chance for hand delivery…

If you hand deliver, then film the whole event in addition to obtaining a signed receipt. This is Amazon we are talking about, not the real logical world.

You could find some old postage stamps already franked glue 'em on.
Write Very special delivery on the envelope (then hand deliver yourself):grinning:
Some customers get upset if they have paid for a service they didn’t actually receive.
Although imo you can’t get much better than delivered in person!
But as others have warned, without tracking you are leaving yourself open to potential claims.

I would hand delivery i do with alot of my orders, once on a run i hand delivered as was on my run route  customer very happy as ordered 3 pm and got it before 6pm!!
Also in this day and age, explain to customer take a photo on your phone of the person and the house door to cover yourself, if i did this then received an INR, i’m sorry but the customer would have NWL (no windows left)

Won’t this affect the VTR though?
We just lost premium delivery due to amazon not recognising 1 parcel we sent via parcel force (tech error on their part so getting seller performance to look into it).

Of course it depends if the shipping came through to the OP as standard or premium
