+9-10 days delivery is a punishment!
AMAZON +9-10 days delivery is a punishment!
Sales have stopped because Amazon have increased our delivery times from 3-4 days to 9-10 days.
What did our company do to deserve this you ask?
We are FBM and use 'Buy Shipping' purchased through Amazon, in our case Royal Mail 2nd Class and 2nd Class 'Signed For' letters, always dispatched on time. Account health good. On checking it appears three 'Signed For' were delivered late by Royal Mail. Failure to deliver on time can happen to any business regardless of delivery service and is beyond the control of the seller.
So we now have two-tier delivery system, as an example –
Seller A pays for Royal Mail 2nd class letter through Amazon (buyer quoted delivery 2-4 days)
Seller B pays for Royal Mail 2nd class letter through Amazon (buyer quoted delivery 9-10 days)
There is clear disparity here.
Why has Amazon implemented a policy that punishes a seller for something beyond their control?
There is nothing I can do to stop an item being delivered late in the future, so no doubt I and other sellers will be punished over and over again. From a small business perspective if this policy remains I will be unable to rely on the Amazon platform to sell through, you cannot plan or run a business with the constant threat of little or no orders due to bizarre Amazon rules and zealotry. Business is hard enough as it is.
This Amazon policy is egregious, ill thought through and ultimately unfair for small businesses.

I had it recently where my delivery time was extended by 1 day.
1 day doesn't sound much but I was a day slower than all my competitors on shared listings. It resulted in over 1,000 lost sales in a 2 week period.
Like you there is nothing I can do to stop Royal Mail from delivering late. Even if you contact them about it you get the standard reply that delivery times are not guaranteed.
I hope it sorts itself out for you soon, for me it took 2 weeks.

Just as a by the way - your tags to the forum mods will not be seen as not highlighted in blue - you need to select their names from the dropdown that appears when you start typing. eg. @Julia_Amazon

why don't you select tracked48 instead of 2nd class ?

I had this happen with DPD where they didn't collect the parcel(s) for over 10 days. Our delivery time ballooned to over 2 weeks. I tried contacting Amazon about this and their response was basically along the lines of "it's our responsibility in making sure items are delivered on time".
There wasn't much more we could do other than offer "Premium Shipping" for an additional £2 which at least advertised a better "Get by" date. Despite this, Sales massively died off and killed a lot of momentum after this likely due to Amazon's algorithm thinking we're a subpar seller. We're still feeling the impact 3 months later...

What is your OTDR? pretty much if u fall below 97% it can trigger a 1 day automatic delivery padding by the system. If you drop below 95% ive known it issue upto 3 days of padding. I had a rough period where mine dropped to 89% due to DPD collection issues and it took months to get rid off the padding as once it goes on, its a unknown when it will come back to normal again,
Every time i challenge this in amazons own words say there is no punishment for dropping below 97%
But padding is a PUNISHMENT because the customer can choose a faster company OR you get excluded from feature offer/rotation, Amazon disagrees and says its all automatic and its not a punishment.
97% OTDR i feel is a strech to meet as even DPD in our area is close to 95% then 97%.
Sorry to hear yours is this bad, when i get paded it costs me in money about £1,000 per day in lost sales which is a mental mind *%&k.
