Bank Account Verification Nightmare

Hi All.

I am having serious difficulties right now because Amazon in their wisdom decided to re-verify the account that I’ve been using for years now, and as their template for account numbers ends in 000 and my bank’s ends in 00, they won’t accept it. The final zero is optional. Some banks use it, some don’t.

So - they’ve withheld payment for months. Their support is worse than useless - I’m just going round in circles… and their “online help” is a Kafkaesque maze of too much information.

I’ve been running this business for 10 years now (it’s a small manufacturing business), and Amazon are about to make me go bankrupt.

Does anyone have any idea how I can talk to an actual human being (co.uk)?

Thanks,

Nick

take them to the court and then see how they contact you

Is the account number the right length? The UK bank account number should be 8 digits in all cases. If your account number is only 7 digits long you should enter a zero at the start (e.g. account number 1234567 should be entered as 01234567)

Okay - thank you. I’ll try that.

It’s probably not ideal, but would getting another bank account be an option?

Hi

I had major issue 18 months ago with a similar issue, albeit it was to do with transfer of Euro funds from EU marketplaces to the UK. Anyway, after swimming in the same goldfish bowl and getting nowhere for months, someone suggested opening an account with a cuurency exchnage bank called ‘WorldFirst’, I was able to do it on-line and after a 15 minute phone call. Anyway, once we had the new account, I just changed the bank a/c info and that fixed the issue straight away, and it also had the added benefit of having a much better exchange rate than the one Amazon were giving us, so we ended up saving a packet. Another bonus was being able to get funds in the account same day if transerred before 1pm, instead of having to wait 3-4 days. I wouldn’t bother with seller support any further or looking for someone to talk to tbh, bottom line is they don’t care and aren’t interested, all you ever get is stock responses or responses to questions you didn’t ask. Best of Luck.

Thank you people.

As it happens (for my sins) I am a UK/NZ citizen… and I still have a UK bank account, and a transferwise account.

It did cross my mind yesterday that a combo of a UK bank and transferwise might be a good bet… it’s just that I’m really up against it time-wise… and every single action I take (eg: asking for an immediate withdrawal) seems to result in another 5 day delay. I was desperate a month ago - and now they’ve put the goalposts back again… and have scheduled a transfer 2 weeks from now.

So I was a bit scared to change banks completely in case they decided to use it as yet another excuse to delay everything.

But as I’m getting precisely nowhere with their “support”, and appear to be in a permanent catch-22, where nothing will ever get fixed, I guess trying my UK account might be a good idea.

To be honest, I would not be surprised if they will suspend you. Suspecting your account has been hacked and now you need to get down to your knees and write the “plan of action”.

Wait for their mercy to read your appeal and they will reinstate your account after 90 days whan your business in debts and under Authorisation.

@Grorge …

No idea. It was so long ago that it was originally set up, maybe their system just automatically added an extra zero. It’s been working fine for years, and then somebody broke it, and now I’m stuck in this catch-22.

@RobbedAmazonSeller - yea they’ve robbed me too… or more accurately, they’re accomplices to theft… but that is a separate issue.

They haven’t suspended me, they just haven’t paid me in months - and there wash a big increase in orders in December, so I now have a massive increase in bills which I can’t pay… and I can’t get my account verified without them talking to them on the phone, and whatever numpty designed their system set it up so I can’t give them my phone number… well… not through the usual channels.

Distributed Kafka.
