We’ve opted you into the Global Shipping Programme
I chose to only sell to UK buyers due to the complexity of postage rates. However today, I got this message "We’ve opted you into the [Global Shipping Programme] Where I would ship to a UK distributor who then sends the item on and I only pay UK postage. Sounds too good to be true is it a scam anyone else use it does it work?

If you’re talking about eBay then yes it works very well. I haven’t seen an Amazon equivalent?

As Demel says, Ebay has a Global Shipping programme which works really well, though the customers do pay quite a hefty fee for it as it is a tracked service including all fees, customs duties etc.
You don’t opt in as such but tick a box on the listing if you want to enable the option.
Was this from Amazon ?
I wonder if Amazon are thinking of going the same way ? - though somehow I doubt it ?!, and I do wonder if this is a scam email - due to the […] around the words Global Shipping Programme.
If Amazon was going to offer this type of service then I doubt they would use the same name as Ebay’s one.

Most definitely. Amazon have no need for a GSP, their own worldwide logistics system works perfectly well. The fact that this also has exactly the same name as Ebay would be an immediate alarm to me.

As the topic is ebay global shipping program - can any of those using the system in this thread over on ebay advise how they are reporting those orders for VAT purposes?
Is shipping the orders to the ebay global shipping warehouse proof enough that you are the exporter of the order? We aren’t sure what to do since they changed the terms last year from orders being domestic for VAT purposes to orders being exports.

I wasn’t aware that you could either opt-in or out ? - as I said in my earlier post, when listing items there is a box to tick if you want to enable it for GSP under shipping options.

The only minor gripe i have is that i dont always see its an international one. When i send abroad generally goes into a plastic mailer as more robust with all the travelling it does this just comes up with the shipping address as ebays warehouse over here and a number that allows them when receiving it to process which they do well and keep all parties informed. Just wish they would introduce it so you can use it when advertising on ebay.com and ebay.au.
