Amazon telling customers to keep item and refund

Hi,

A customer had not received their item so we refunded them, a few days later it showed up and the customer sent us a message saying they wanted to pay for the item.

As advised by Amazon, I asked her to contact Amazon and request a retro charge, the customer did this and was told not to worry about paying, just keep the item! She has contacted me again saying she is not happy, and wants to pay for it which is amazing of her.

Has anyone else had this?? I have opened a case with Amazon but we all know that doesn’t do much good. I wish there was a separate body who we could report Amazon to for activities such as this.

Several sellers have reported exactly the same. Amazon giving away their money, possibly believing that all money goign through here belongs to them, not their “partners”. No apparent solution. Thank the buyer and suggest that she makes a donation to charity, effectively at your expense

I have heard the same. Its a growing concern for many.

Others have said the customer can place second order and the seller can make the order as dispatched.

Disgusting and typical of Amazon.I think it’s happened once where the customer has an unrealistic arrival date ( I would have thought that if it is sent within the Amazon time window then a refund or freebie should not be offered) It was resolved if I remember correctly either by a cheque to me or a Pay Pal payment.You might even gain because Amazon would not get any fee .

Thanks for your replies. Seller Support couldn’t care less as usual and won’t even acknowledge what has happened. What bothers me the most is when Amazon do things like this we just have to accept the loss, they should not be able to get away with this but they are answerable to no one. I hate to think how many times this has happened without us knowing. Luckily the customer ended up calling us and paying, she also thinks it’s disgusting behaviour from Amazon.

Next year we will stop selling on here because I am fed up of dealing with Amazon, it is by far the worst part of my job and I can no longer make money for a company that causes me so much stress and treats us like this.
