Sellers Charging Exceptionally High Shipping Costs for Low Value Items
Hello,
Has anyone else come across this, and it does seem like a scam of sorts unless we are misinformed?
AN item which costs about £4 to £5 says free shipping in the offer window but they at ‘Checkout’ a delviery charge of say £20 to £25 is added - we cant work out how this is happening or allowed to happen - any thoughts appreciated to align our understanding in case we missed something?
Thanks,

Usually they have set a minimum purchase qty of 2 or more. first one is free to ship, but you have to buy at least 2…

I raised a couple I found with customer services cos they were actually things I wanted to buy, they did tell me to screenshot and send to an email address for investigation as it wasn’t allowed but I’ve just looked again now and nothing has changed (this was around 3 weeks ago)

The only way I think you can do this is to put a charge per additional item, so you list an item low price with free delivery per order set the min order quantity to 2 and a delivery charge of £xx per item.

Sometimes they.put the price of the goods too low.snd try to recoup the cost through Postage.

It seems to be a way of catching customers out, luring them in with the low price and then adding on the delivery charge for two or more and then hoping the customer doesn’t see it. We then can’t obtain the Buy Box as we wont go anywhere near the price, and thus creates more ridiculous competition.

It is because Amazon charge such high commission rates that sellers make up the difference on the sale item with postage. Sometimes the commission is more than the item is sold for.
