Is there an expiry timeline to the open returns window?
A simple Q really. Excluding the special circumstances of Christmas, where a buyer can initiate a return over an extended period, the buyer has 30 days in which to request a return via the system.
Once initiated how long does the buyer have to return the item before it’s considered ineligible for return?
There is an option in the refunds section for ‘return outside of the returns period’ and I think open returns disappear from the seller dashboard after 90 days, but does anyone have a definitive/can point me to a policy page?
Basically I need to be able to quote policy to a buyer who for eg opens a returns case on day 29 and then takes 6 weeks to post the item.
(in a similar vein we’ve recently had to issue a part refund with a substantial depreciation reduction (that’s another story) the return has remained on our dashboard, so our assumption is that returns, even if part refunded, remain open for the 90 days (or whatever the window is) can anyone verify this?
TIA

The customer has 30 days to return it from the point of receiving it. On day 29 they have one day to return. Amazon will normally produce a label and it will be accepted at the time of scan etc. If the scan hasn’t triggered within 30 days of them buying it then it will be assumed they no longer wish to return. Anything beyond that will then be at your discretion.
If you go into your returns policy, you should have a copy of what the returns policy is, there is a default and you can add to this default in your settings.
Most returns are auto authorised now and it is best to just sit and wait for the return to come in. The longer after 30 days has elapsed the better but it will just drop off I think after about 45 days.
There are exceptions to this including bespoke items that are no longer eligible for returns.
