Fragile items packed/prepped incorrectly by FBA - what can I do?
Hi,
I am using FBA prepping and labeling services, and my items are defined as FRAGILE.
I am getting many complains from customers that receive the goods smashed and broken, due to incorrect / insufficient padding material used by FBA to prep the items.
Amazon publishes a very informative video on how to prep fragile items (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54raivS9emE) which includes a TEST that the packaged item needs to withstand. It is absolutely clear to me (having seen how a package arrives at the customer) that they DO NOT perform the test, and if they would have - the FBA packaging would have failed miserably.
- Is there a way to ask Amazon to ACTUALLY test the packaging - according to their own rules?
- If indeed insufficient, is there a way for ask Amazon to better wrap and safeguard the items?
By the way - Amazon losses on all fronts by not packaging incorrectly - they reimburse the BUYER, they reimburse the SELLER, they lose public confidence and seller confidence - it’s really not good to ANYONE…
Thanks
Mordechai

It is the responsibility of the seller to make sure if is packaged correctly before it is sent to FBA and that the packaging provides the protection needed, not Amazon. Therefore whatever box or packaging Amazon use, your item should still be safe in the packaging you sent.

There’s your answer,prep them yourself.
I would not trust Amazon to prep anything.
Not really, they still get their fees no matter what happens to the item.

Why let someone else pack your fragile items for you if you are getting complaints off customers?
Buy some double walled thick boxes and pack each item in whatever it takes and then send to FBA. This is what I did for hard rives back in 2015 when I tried FBA for the first time as I knew full well Amazon pack with a tiny piece of bubble wrap or paper just thrown on top.
My advise is to pack them how you would yourself if fulfilling yourself and then send to FBA.
Good luck hope you resolve it, Amazon will reimburse you in full and the metrics / feedback won’t effect your account as Amazon will strike through the comments of all FBA items.

I would never trust Amazon to pack fragile items, you must pre-pack before you send them in, there have been many similar threads on here over the years, the only solution is to pack the items yourself, you will not be able to tell Amazon to pack them better.
