Multiple orders form same customer

Hi All

Some advice please. Customer made 2 separate orders for 2 different items all going to same address.
As those orders will be sent using tracked and signed service, can they be sent together with same tracking info uploaded at the point of dispatch to both orders?

The danger is, if your customer should claim only one item received then you only have one package, and one tracking number with which to respond.
You might want to take records of the weight of the combined package compared to the individual weights of the items concerned.
You would probably be OK, as most customers are honest, but there is always a risk involved, especially on this platform.

Definitely ship the orders separately, Amazon will not let you defend 2 A-Z claims for different orders with the same tracking number.

Also, if the buyer paid 2 sets of postage, he wouldn’t be happy about you combining them into one package to save money.

Kika’s quite right on both counts, the second point is very valid… I ordered two sets of oven stickers once, paid (overpaid more like) on the postage for each order and they came in the same envelope. I was not happy I must say… don’t give a customer a reason to mark you down!

We sometimes combine items purchased in this way, but we upgrade the delivery service when we do and send the buyer a thanks for your multiple orders message and advise them of the above. We’ve not had a complaint regarding this methodology, it means the customer will receive their order way in advance of the stated order schedule.

Thank you for your responses so far… To clarify further. Once order is SFP, the other order is standard merchant fulfilled but customer paid for premium shipping on second order.

I would make sense to send them together. If we do it still costs us more in shipping cost since a parcel will be double the weight when we combine 2 orders.

I have always combined multiple orders.

I have even on occasion messed up and only sent one. subsequently corrected.

Never had any issues what so ever.
