Packaging, labels and barcodes

Hi,
I’m a newbie to selling on Amazon so please bear with me. I understand there are guidelines, tutorials to my questions, however I can’t find the answer to what I need to know hence this topic.
I’m trying to set up a shipment of my book, there are 6 books per box and I want to send 4 boxes. I got as far as the label section of the process and became a little confused. Can I just print 4 labels, one for each box, or does each book need its own label/barcode? There is only my ISBN bar code on the back of the book, no other barcode of any kind. Does each book need an Amazon barcode?

Thanks for your help?
Andy

Hello Andy,

In general, if your listing is a “Stickered” listing, then you are required to print the “FNSKU” label and attach it over the top of the EAN barcode, so that it is the only label visible on our units. This must be done for each unit that is being sold, and under no circumstances should an “FNSKU” label be attached to the outside of the shipping box containing mulitple units, or this could lead to the box being considered one unit during the receiving process.

One way to check if your listings are “Stickered” is that the “FNSKU” will begin with “X00…”. If a listing is commingled, then the FNSKU would be the same as the ASIN, and Begin “B0…”. When commingled, units do not have to be labeled with the FNSKU, as the EAN would link the product to the listing.

More information is available HERE.

Please be aware that Media items have to be stickered/labelled with an FNSKU before being sent to the FC. If you wish to avail of the FBA labeling service, more information on the requirements and price can be found HERE

I hope this helps,
Alex

Andy,

Maybe you could try ordering a similar book from Amazon yourself and see how it arrives to you. There will probably be a difference depending who packs your book, which FC and if it is bought as part of a bigger order of several items.

It will give you an idea, then possibly you can decide if that’s good enough for your book?

Remember there are FBA practices such as drop testing to pass as well, if in doubt you could pack each book in jiffy bag and put the FNSKU label on that.
