Newbie needing help getting started? (Scanlister issue?)

Hi guys,

I was recently gifted roughly 300 hardback books by a family member to try and sell. After a bit of research as to what to do with them I discovered Amazon FBA and a program called Scanlister. I’ve spent the past 7hrs using this program, I’ve tried to list by clicking on list fulfilled by Amazon and keep getting the error “Feed Rejected”. I cannot seem to find an answer as to what is going wrong. I’ve even subscribed to the professional sellers account in order to use this software.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thank you,

I think the right direction here would be to list them one by one manually - you could have done half of them in 7 hours.

IMO, if you are not going to list considerably more books after the intial 300, then you would be financially better of NOT using the professional option as this would cost you £30 per month.

Also, do you really want fulfilled by Amazon?

It may be an idea to go through the seller university introduction to selling

Hi, thank you for taking the time to reply. I think I’ve found the answer to my problem, I believe it was that my account needed to be reverified. Which I’ve submitted the documents again and am waiting for that process to complete.

To be honest, I am looking at becoming a professional reseller and should potentially have access to many more books as well as other items I would hopefully be looking to sell in the future. Mainly on Ebay as at the moment it is mainly about decluttering. But due to our current circumstances I have nothing but time to devote to this, plus it will hopefully get me out of a position I don’t ever want to be in again.

Hi
really not being cynical but see you in a month when you are banging your head against the wall as the verification or reverification has not completed yet
i hope not but enough threads regarding that as well. good luck and welcome to the beautiful world of Amazon

Re your listing problem, if you have the time, I’d suggest listing each book individually, by using the SBN/ISBN where they have one. In your seller account, under “Manage inventory-Add a product” enter the SBN/ISBN as just a string of numbers, eg 123456789, no spaces or hyphens. Look at the existing listing to see how many other copies are already on sale and the prices. If there are, say, 20 copies at 25p upwards, don’t bother - it’s a waste of time, unless yours is signed by the particularly well-known author
This method ensures that you are listing against the genuine catalogue entry. Unfortunately, Amazon’s book section is awash with fake (unnecessary and against the rules) duplicate entries created by (usually USA-based) dropshippers who don’t hold any stock but just list titles at ridiculously high prices (often hundreds if not thousands of pounds) for, say, a very common paperback novel in the hope of conning some gullible buyer to order it. When they do, the dropshipper just buys one of the other, cheaper copies, to be sent to the mug. The more avaricious ones even put in automatic “Item not received” claims to get back the £5 or £10 they paid

Thank you guys for the advice, I’ve taken it under advisement and will be contacting customer services to hopefully get that refund. Thank you.

I’ve managed to get verified also too so quite keen to get started now. I’m slowly working my way through the sellers university articles. Any other tips people can recommend would be greatly appreciated.
