Can't get Featured Offer on my own-created product pages

I believe this problem was not present when l had a Pro Merchant subscription, but now l quit the subscription it’s definitely there.

Whether the Pro Merchant subscription helps product visibility or not isn’t the purpose of this thread.

THE PROBLEM: I created some product pages for generic-branded items i.e. no brand.
There is no other seller, the products are my own.
However, even on these product pages l created for myself, my own offering can only be viewed by further pressing the “See All Buying Options” button. Yep, the product page itself displays NO PRICE.

I’d have thought that Amazon, being a shopping site, would have the gumption to make sure at least one offering is on view on the product page no matter what, without needing to further drill down / press buttons.

Is there a way to ensure my offering is listed on the actual product page? I am a very low volume seller, approx. 1 sale per month. I am unsure of Amazon’s algorithms for becoming Featured Offer, but l’d have expected that, where a product has only one offering, they’d display that one offering, regardless of the seller’s metrics?

Hello there Julia, thanks for reaching out!

I’ve since eMailed Amazon support about it and submitted an ASIN and a brief explanation.
I got a reply asking for an ASIN and a brief explanation.
I then submitted 2 ASINs and a brief explanation.
I got a reply telling me l need to have a selling subscription to get Featured Offer. I could not reply so in my closing survey, l explained that l was unhappy with Amazon’s policy itself, because it prevents the creator of a product page, who is also the product manufacturer, from displaying a price.

Moreover, it seems reasonable that no product page should lack a visible price so long as there’s at least someone selling, even if it’s a bad seller. As it happens my ratings are just fine. My problem is creating adverts for old items that have no product page, and creating adverts for items that l make, and which have no brand. In each case, l am am the sole offering, and l created the product page, yet my product page has no price displayed … unless l take out a seller subscription.

I consider this a flaw in the system, at least in the case of brand new products. I can almost … almost … understand why a product page may be suppressed by default hiding the price, if the item is old. Amazon can do without old stuff. But brand new stuff? I say do away with the requirement for a selling subscription in order to have a price displayed (= have Featured Offer) on one’s own product page.

Selling subscriptions have enough incentives, without having to stoop so low as to mute the only offering on a product page!

This message was only to Julia_Amazon. I know regulars will swarm, debunk, exchange likes, bolster old comrades. It’s of no use to the topic though.

You have to be on the paid professional selling plan to be eligible for the featured offer / buybox, unless you use FBA,

edit - added a missing “plan”.

Well, i guess i answered your OP a few posts ago by saying you aren’t currently eligible to be the featured offer. That’s not going to change unless you upgrade selling plan, which it seems isn’t particularly viable.

As to my sales, you are correct there is a competing seller on the listing. But, they are also ineligible to be the featured offer so the listing price is invisible unless a buyer does the extra clicks. I think they’re ineligible due to a high price issue as they are on the paid selling plan - I know i get a daily email telling me i have set the price too high which i just ignore. Amazon are suggesting a price of £8 but i’m happy with the £14 i have set.

You’re right that i am assuming Amazon’s stance. At the end of the day though it doesn’t really matter. Us debating whether it is right or wrong or however many shades of grey isn’t going to change anything at all.
