Do i need GS1 Barcodeto sell a non-branded (Generic) Product?
Hi, (SELLING PHONE HOLDER VENT)
So I am going to be placing a order from a manufacturer in China should i do the following?
So i have a few enquiries if I can be supported on?
- Do I need GS1 barcode printed on the product?
- What if i don't pay for a GS1 barcode and used the one they have? (will it interfere with other products?)
- Will i be able to sell the product as Generic and not fall into any legal problems?
So in conclusion what i think is right, should i get a GS1 barcode have it printed on the product to be uniquely identified and its okay to sell as "Generic Unbranded"
Thanks for reading

Hello @Seller_Lhy6Wp23aGloQ,
Here Simon from Amazon, happy to help.
Here a help page that might be useful for you: Amazon Generic Product Policy.
"If you are creating a new generic product that does not have a unique identifier, such as Universal Product Code (UPC) or Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), you must first request a GTIN Exemption in the desired store and product category."
If the product doesn't belong to any identifiable brand, it can be listed as Generic.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Simon
