Read onlyI’m getting a lot of suspected IP violations on my listings. All my listings are handmade by me and listed under my own brand. My brand name is not even trademarked…yet. But this is irrelevant anyway,…
Everyday there are new notifications flagging my listings as suspected intellectual property violations and giving me 3 days to edit the listing before it is permanently removed. Obviously I am NOT violating my own brand name, but according to Amazon I am infringing on my own brand name by using it in the title. I don’t even put my brand name in the title, Amazon do this automatically!
I try to edit listings but it either won’t let me or it is removed anyway regardless with no explanation what the actual problem is or precisely what it is they want me to change.
Seller support is predictably useless, I’m getting bot reply’s and going around in circles.
But here’s the weird thing…yesterday I noticed a pattern. The brand name on every single flagged listing has been changed to another brand that sounds very Chinese seller-ish, for example, “Dorlik” “SYNENY” “Paxdun” “Majen” etc etc. So I tried a different approach and requested the brand to be changed back to my original which only made things more complicated, to change my listing back to my original brand I need to send proof that I’m ok to sell MY BRAND (how?) as well as images of my product clearly displaying my brand name…I don’t put my brand name on my products because that would ruin them!
It’s reached a point now that I’m losing a few listing with each passing day and most of them are FBA so I’m building up some stranded inventory as well as losing a lot of sales. I don’t know what to do, it seems like I can’t do anything to resolve this.
Is there any way I can get an actual human to look into this? Is there any way I can get my removed listings back? And how the hell are my listings being rebranded ?
We have had lately so many of these where the original brand has been changed to something complately irrelevant to the product. A contact to the (so called) seller support is pointless. They can't change the brand, you can't change the brand and it has resulted in a ip violation. Waste of time and energy.
We have taken action just to delete these products from Amazon and sell on competing platforms.
The catalogue is a complete mess where products have wrong names, wrong brand names, seller support is completely useless and the fees are extortionate. The experience selling on Amazon has become extremely unpleasant. Imagine if we run our businesses like Amazon does - we'd be out of business in no time.
Are you selling in the Handmade section? As far as I'm aware, the brand must be a registered trademark. If not, it is listed as generic instead. When it is generic, I have seen these being auto filled by bots....Chinese names as you stated.
update - I have had reply’s this evening from seller support for a few listings reiterating that I need to provide a letter of authorisation to list my own brand BUT when I’ve checked the listing it has been removed from the violation list? Obviously this is great news but very confusing. Why are they reinstating some but not others? This makes no sense.
Yes, this has happened to me several times in the last week or so, several of my own branded items have been rebranded, although not being sold by anyone else on the listing and some of my descriptions have been changed, for example one keychain, that has been listed for 8 years or more, has now become hair product, with total hair product description whilst retaining the original keychain title and photos. It looks like a problem with the codes being reused or the bots. The only way around it for me was to redo the listings.
Similar thing happening to us. The listing was set up by a different company with some mistakes in the brand/manufacturer which has flagged it,
I did manage to get a LOA and an explanation from the brand though and had 19 violations accepted/removed last week so it might be worth just sending them an LOA even if it is just from yourself and it may get accepted.
Is there any way I can get an actual human to look into this? Is there any way I can get my removed listings back?
In a word, no. There are no actual humans anywhere in amazon, except the packers in the warehouses.
Incredibly frustrating, I've been there and it was impacting my account too, so if your acc health is good count yourself lucky! It was so stressful but I spent days on the phone to support, always being told nothing can be done I've violated my own brand as crazy as it sounds. It was some time ago now so I cant remember what I had to do to get it resolved (sorry!) but I know I jumped through many hoops, and eventually it did get resolved. So my input here is, be resilient and you'll get through in the end. Fingers crossed its sooner rather than later for you.
im having the same problem at the moment. I personalise my own items and every time i upload a new mug its saying trademark issue - i have to appeal it and always gets approved however now my account health has gone down due to this - i messaged the chat and like you said going round in circles, keep saying said nothing to worry about but im going phone tomorrow as now my account health effected and im missing sales
I've stated continuously on the chat they are my own designs and my own products - i dont want to re do any of my listings because then i loose the sale marker and rating next to it. seems to be only the past couple weeks this is happening. in the same boat
It would be helpful to be informed when the brand is changed without the brand owners knowledge.
I had this problem last year.
It was the EAN numbers that were hacked allowing Chinese to change brand and change pictures and listings.
Deleted listings, complained to EAN number supplier who supplied new ones and was informed it was Amazon system that allowed this.
Used new EAN numbers and made new listings
Been fine ever since.
