Amazon reserved funds without any notification
On 9th June amazon started putting all my sales into reserved funds without any notification
my metrics were all ok no issues
they did not release any funds until 27 th June when they kept £22000 and started releasing the rest of the funds from daily sales, then after another 10 days they started keeping all money in reserve again even until now
I have messaged them asking why they are keeping funds but no answer , I have emailed literally every email I can find, and still no answer
can they even do this without any notification of any issue
they must have some sort of process to say you have done this so this is why we are keeping your funds, so you can understand, but no notification, this must be against any normal terms of selling on a platform
you do not know what is happening to your business or what to plan for

Have you had ANY issues at all on your account ?
Violations, defects etc ?

hi there,
even we have had the same issue since the 12th of june, and our funds have gone upto £86.5k now which have been reserved since the 12th june. we did not received any notification in regards to this either. But we emailed a lot of times and on 19th july, we received email that they are still reviewing and they will email us once completed. We had a similar issue in 2020 but they emailed us on that time saying that because of a increase in sales they put a reserve and kept it for 30 days and it was like £250k was reserved at that time and the sales were high as it was around christmas time and they released the money in january 2021.
We told them that this time, we are even struggling to pay the bills and rents and as its a lot of money, and also we depend on the money we receive from amazon. Even the sales have gone slow now as we haven’t topped up our stock since no money coming in for nearly 2 months. As you mentioned you were able to transfer on some days, we were not able to do that either.
Fingers crossed they will release the money in next 1 or 2 days.
Good luck to you as well.

I had a similar issue earlier this year which Seller Support sorted out in about 3 days which was as shocking as it was amazing.
When I logged the case I specifically DIDN’T ask why the system was keeping funds.
What I DID do was lay out the case in bullet points to demonstrate why they shouldn’t be withholding funds. You’re welcome to copy & paste whatever bits of this you want:
"Good Afternoon
Thank you for your response.
Before submitting this case I reviewed all of the reasons why monies would be held in Account Level Reserve:
- I have no A-Z claims, ever
- There are no chargebacks on my account other than occasional refunds on customer returns
- Account is not under review (as far as I know)
- Performance benchmarks are good (IPI is low but I don’t believe this a factor in this subject)
- No income tax implications
99%+ of my sales are FBA
Regarding your comments on default policy being DD+7 - I would estimate something closer to a 90 day release being applied in my case. Though admittedly it’s hard to gauge this with any precision.
In summary, it would appear there will be an amount of £xxxxx - £xxxxx being perpetually held in reserve. Without some kind of intervention on Seller Supports part, this will not resolve itself.
As a small operator, you must understand this creates a hole in cashflow that restricts growth.
I would very much appreciate this being investigated. "

I Had to update my credit card details in May as my card was due for renewal. Same bank same card number, but new expirey date. Immediately following this change my funds are held on reserve, no explanation, no correspondence from amazon. I have been here over 10 years 100% feedback, never had a return. I would add I have few sales on Amazon as I have all but given up with them, so it doesnt affect me as much as some here.
I have repeatedly asked SS why, but have not received any meaningful responses or explanation, and requests to have the reserve removed have fallen of deaf ears. To be honest I cant be a****d to do any thing about it, but I am seriously considering closing the account, not that Amazon would care a hoot.

Just an update to our situation; it was exactly as @The_Little_Shop and @PlanB described (thank you both). Three days after application of the reserve, it was lifted. Mind you, I had 7 different explanations from seller support before the last one explained it properly
