Supply invoices for Sony brand but I have never listed/sold Sony items

I have received an email from Amazon telling me to supply invoices for my branded listing by 5th September and failure to do so will mean the listing is removed.

The brand in question is Sony. However I only sell jewellery and gifts, I have never listed any Sony items and none of my items refer to Sony.

The email says "If you believe that we have misidentified your products, submit a dispute via the ‘View Selling Applications’ dashboard in Seller Central." I have gone there and there is not mention of Sony.

I have tried to raise a case but the form keep asking for an ASIN or SKU, but I can't give one as the email does not mention one.

Any advice please?

Could this be a phishing email? Did you, by any chance, enter your login details via a link in the email?

Update: I have at last managed to get through to seller support and they say they have no idea why the email was sent to me.

They have confirmed I have no Sony items and my Account Health is good. Scared the heck out of me when I saw the email I can say.

Hi Alison, i got same email from amazon, it is really annoying as we also dont have Sony product on sale, did you call seller support or they eventually replied your case, please advise, thanks in advance.

I raised a case with seller support but had to go through the process twice as it kept asking for an ASIN and of course there isn't one. I put this in the issue box: "An email from Amazon that has incorrect information about my inventory". I also printed the email as a pdf file and attached that.

I can't remember which option I clicked after that to bypass the ASIN bit but the system eventually put me through to a Seller Support associate via chat (you could choose a phone call).

After over 30 minutes waiting while she investigated, she told me to ignore the email as she could see I had nothing Sony-related in my inventory.

Good luck!

Hey @Seller_hOZNPw7G8FIjl,

As it sounds like a few different folks received this email, I'd like to look into this a bit further. Do you have the Seller Support case ID where they confirmed it was erroneous? Thank you.

I have just had dozens of my CD and vinyl listings suppressed. Amazon are demanding the impossible.

This is what I get when clicking 'fix this listing' -

Submit the following documentation: Copies of invoices from your supplier issued in the last 180 days showing at least 100 units Contact information for your supplier, including the business name, phone number, address (where applicable), email, and website

How is this possible for listings that were created years ago for used products that are no longer available new?

Most of my listings are long out-of-print.

Why is Amazon doing this?

It's clearly absurd to demand invoices for listings created years ago for products that were already only available used at that time of listing (eg, LP records manufactured in the early 1960s).
