Use correct labels to help us identify Ships in Product Packaging items

To avoid delays in processing your inventory in our fulfilment centres and ensure that your items are sent to buyers as part of the Ships in Product Packaging programme, you must put the correct label on the correct box. If your items don’t include the proper labels, they won’t be scanned as part of the programme.

Here’s what you can do to make sure your Ships in Product Packaging items are properly labelled:

  • For single items, you must place both a scannable box label (SSCC, AMZNCC, 2D-BPS or GTIN-14 encoded into a GS1-128 or ITF-14 barcode) and a scannable item label (UPC, EAN, GTIN-12 or ASIN) on the outside of the box.
  • When you ship a case pack with multiple items, place a scannable box label on the outermost box and a scannable item label on each individual Ships in Product Packaging item inside the box.
  • If your item is intended to be sold as a set of two or more, the outermost packaging must have a separate “Sold as a set” label so we know it’s a single sellable item and can properly scan it as a Ships in Product Packaging parcel.

Ships in Product Packaging, formerly known as Ships in Own Container, allows FBA orders to be delivered in custom packaging without any Amazon-added material. This reduces excess packaging for a better buyer experience and can help you save on fulfilment costs, depending on product type, dimensions, and other criteria.
