Duplicate Amazon listings for the same product - how do I reoprt this please?
I keep noticing duplicated listing on Amazon. Fore example search on Lego 71016 - this brings up 2 listings for the exact same product. There are lots of other examples - how do I report this to amazon to get them merged. I’m not the seller by the way.
Thanks
Mike

Firstly, you need to be careful.
If your not selling something, or indeed planning to, why go to the trouble?
You also need to be aware, that just because something appears to be the same, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is. Manufacturers all too often produce items for different markets etc, or slight differences, with different barcodes. So if the two items don’t match exactly, nothing can be done.
But to report them, you just need to open the appropriate case, though in my experience, they expect you to be selling the item.

You waste your life trying…
How many years of your life to you wish to waste? It is hard enough doing it for listings that you are on, but to “try” and correct the whole catalogue? Good luck with that…
Alterantively, have you read the book on Fly Fishing by J.R Hartley?

We’ve also attempted to have duplicate listings merged or removed, sometimes with luck sometimes not. It seems that they are more likely to remove the duplicate listings rather than merging them, as said above to merge, the attributes need to be identical which in many cases they are not.
Recently we created a listing on Amazon, using all the correct information, (including approval to sell under the particular brand name being used), and we used the GS1 registered EAN. There was no match that we could see/identify and as we created the listing there was no ‘conflicting’ match or information to other items so we continued.
A few days later we found the product listed, with a poorly created product page (i.e lack of information, attributes etc - a rush job it seemed), so we requested a merge but it was denied.
We then reported it as a duplicate (now wish we didn’t), our listing got removed and we received two policy violations (I know, we should of known better >.<) one for duplicate violation and one for listing violation. We can’t get this appealed no matter what we try, not the brand attribute listing approval, not the GS1 information, not a recent invoice, picture of the product etc.
So we’re basically selling on the ASIN that was created first (incorrectly) until whenever they want the EANS to be used correctly or the brand itself gets involved…
So basically, its harder than you think and in a lot of cases a waste of time.

First thing you need to do is check with SS that you are selling from the original ASIN. That isn’t as obvious as it might seem and you need to be really careful before you file a report. You will need to raise a case with the ASIN’s concerned and they will give you this information. It doesn’t matter if the ASIN you sell against was allocated to you by Amazon, assuming you clicked the “sell yours” option initially. If they gave you a non original ASIN, it is your responsibility to somehow know that. The reason you need to be really careful is based on personal experience, which so far has cost us about 70% of what was a £425k pa turnover item on the platform. The system is automated and despite the best efforts of human resources on both sides, what was done has not been undone, 5 months later. Good luck, it’s a dangerous road to go down.

hi, any help appreciated. I’ve reported this but it got rejected
We’re seeing this in some of the categories we list in. At time of posting, there are 18 of the same products, listed under different brands and ASIN, but it is 100% the same product
Is this against amazon policy? Surely must be else it’d look like eBay!
