Shipping to Northern Ireland Post Brexit
Post Brexit Northern Ireland is in effect to be treated as having a border with the UK mainland, can it be deselected from domestic postage?

No because it is still covered by Universal Service Obligation of Royal Mail which means RM has to provide a postal service to every address within the UK and N. Ireland is still part of the UK and will remain so.

As I understand it, the postage with Royal Mai will be the same as the UK but sales to Northern Ireland may need a customs declaration. There appears to be a 3 month amnesty on this requirement and no detail on what will happen after 3 months.

There’s been an update from Royal Mail based on clarification of HMRC as of 31st December.
No changes in postal services to NI.

So in our situation in looks like we need phyto certification to go alongside each parcel we ship to NI
The certificates will cost us more than our products do to buy, alongside already higher courier fees.
i dont see how we and im sure many other sellers also can offer products for the same price as the rest of the uk, it certainly has to depend on the product sold if factoring customs. we cant just be expected to absorb all costs either, i appreciate the point regarding the customer shouldnt have too.
interestingly amazon on their own deliveries acknowledge this and pick and choose what they deliver to NI now, but third party sellers must continue too on all products.

I’ve just had an order to NI and I intend to post it using an Amazon purchased label.
Has anyone used Amazon postage for NI yet and are there any changes or restrictions flagged up?

To answer my own question, I’ve just printed an Amazon postage label for NI and I can’t see anything different. There were no warnings on the order page.
