Created a SellerCentral account on Amazon.com - How to Fix?

Hi - I seem to have got into a bit of an issue with my Amazon Seller account. I am UK based, and want to set up a UK Seller Central account to sell in UK only (a Professional Account as it’s for my business).

I’ve set up an account, passed verification, but on initial login yesterday I was only presented with the North America region. Amazon then took a charge of $47.99 USD, and now I can see all regions - America/Japan/Europe etc. After reading lots of posts, it seems that people are saying that this is because I must have signed up via the .com address.

Contacted Amazon support via ticket case, and they simply informed me that I need to create an account on .co.uk. Problem here now is that:

  • Whenever I go to .co.uk and click Sign Up, I get redirected back to .com
  • I tried creating a new Amazon account anyhow, and although I got a different email address, it asks me for my mobile number and says that the mobile number is registered to another account.

Amazon support seem to be non helpful with trying to convert my account, or possibly reducing the fee as it should be £25+VAT instead of $47.99.

Is there any way to fix this?

As far as i know you need to access each region and downgrade to the individual selling plan to prevent further charges. Then you should just be able to switch to UK/EU and stay with that as your default.

It might be premature to point this out, but there’s no such thing as a Professional Account. I imagine you mean “professional selling plan”, which is something quite different.

It’s important to understand the distinction. If you’re a business, you need to set up your account with the correct legal business status, otherwise Amazon will eventually deactivate it.

I believe you signed up for a Global selling Plan.
