Amazon Brand Registry for distributors?

Hi. I’m wondering if I can registry my brand in Amazon Brand Registry… I have a brand name, logo and trademark, but my brand is just a distributor of products from several manufacturers. Is this possible to register in Amazon Brand Registry without being a producer?

Hi, Yes you do not have to be the manufacturer of the Products to register Brand Registry. But you should own the trademark which you have. Just start the process of registration and they will ask you set of questions, including if you are a manufacturer or not of your items.

You can, but I’d ask you whether it is worthwhile.

\If you are a distributor, are the goods you sell branded to another company. i.e. your brand is Joe’s Shop and you sell Colgate and Duracell products. If that is the case, your listings won’t be brand protected (to you) because the brands will be Colgate or Duracell etc.

The only real benefit to brand registry is if you are selling goods that are marketed and branded as your own. i.e. Joe’s Shop toothpaste and batteries.

Some sellers get around this by giving a free branded sticker with all products. Then claim they are the brand owners to kick off other sellers on an item they are not the brand owners for.

Brand Registry is completely open to misuse unfortunately.

Yes but you need a registered trademark, Ideally it needs to be a local one for each country you/amazon sell in. so a UKIPO for the UK. WIPO (worldwide) works but if someone in the local country has a local trademark that trumps yours according to Amazon.

You need your IPO to be for a Word-mark, design-marks (logo) is useless if you are registering to remove counterfeiters/hijackers.

If all the ASIN’s use your brand name and you have the Word-mark registered with brand registry for said brand name, then you are good to go and can get counterfeiters removed. Ideally you will need to place an order for proof and to expedite the case!

Enjoy
