Listing in DVD Category - How to Access
We have asked Amazon for approval to sell in the DVD category but been refused. Can anyone advise how to proceed or what requirements Amazon actually have?
It is pointless asking them directly as, common with most sellers, I have zero confidence that I would receive any useful advice.
- we have been selling on Amazon via FBA for over 7 years
- our invoice for stock is from an official UK wholesaler and meets all requirements
- our feedback is 100% with zero defects
- turnover is circa £250K per year
- we have previously sold DVD / Blu Ray until the category was restricted.
There is a suggestion on the reply that iI need to “build my performance history” I have no idea what this means.
Any suggestions welcome.

If that’s for your Amazon sales it would indicate a very strong ‘performance history’, I would think, so a bit of a mystery.

Am I correct in thinking you are already approved and selling in this category albeit FBA?
That being the case, the problem is not you, but an individual product restriction.
The category DVD is being hit by increased product restrictions which often have nothing to do with your selling history.
In some cases only the physical product is being declined.
As more streaming and online options appear for the category this is getting increasingly more common.
Until then accept that for now Amazon are not accepting new offers for this product. However after an initial launch date sellers are often able to join and add listings once Amazon have benefited from an exclusive 2 or 3 months without any competition.
Sorry, but often it is just a waiting game before you are accepted.

No, not currently approved. We’ve been selling for years so have had some DVD sales history prior to the recent hefty restrictions.
I have requested clarification from Amazon but expect no helpful response there.
There are zero issues or disputes with our account.
