Help with Selling Used Theology books
Hello, I have signed up to be an Amazon seller to help my father sell a lifetime of theology books he has collected during his ministry. I am beginning to think I have bitten off more than I can chew! Does anyone have any top tips or pitfalls I can avoid for selling used books? I am an individual seller, I have about 500 books, some are out of print but all are in pretty good condition. Many thanks in advance.

Theology is a difficult subject for Amazon. There is a market for scholarly studies but religious tracts and sermons in book form, unless historically important, can be hard to sell.
Unless the books in question are very obscure it is likely you will find matching entries already in the catalogue so you shouldn’t need to create them from scratch.
You may have to use the ‘add a product’ link from your seller central page to find books that currently have no offers from other sellers.

As a fellow bookseller, who also has quite a lot of theology books (received from the library of a friend’s father who was a renowned preacher here in Scotland), I have sold very few on Amazon.
I have found Ebay to produce more sales for these books - though listing them on ebay is more time-consuming as you need to photograph and fill in mandatory info, plus accurately describe them.
There is another advantage with ebay in that you can check to see if any have sold recently and for what price.
One could spend a day giving you hints and tips !
If relatively high price and meet the criteria for listing as collectable, then do so - but Amazon are clamping down on what they consider collectable.
