ERROR 5461 while trying to list a product

ERROR 5461 while trying to list a product

I keep getting error 5461 while trying to sell a product that is already on amazon through fbm, I put in the price and the quantity and all that then click list. It will either say my updates have been submitted or I'll get error 5461. Amazon seller support is telling me to list against the existing ASIN??? what does that even mean. And they'll also tell me to fill out a seller application for the catalog authorization and I do it but get declined. I just don't understand because when I scanned the product with my seller app I got auto authorized to be able to sell that product. I am new to this and am so confused and I'm getting no help whatsoever from Amazon.

Usually, that error code means that the UPC you are trying to use on the listing isn't registered to that brand in the GS1 database. Are you trying to add the product by looking it up via its UPC code, and if so, have you verified that the brand name on the listing is correct?

It is possible that the brand has now restricted who is allowed to sell their product on Amazon. Do you have authorization from the brand to sell their product on Amazon?
