GS1 Purchased Barcodes weeks ago still not working?

Hello.

4, 5 years ago, selling on Amazon was the future. It was extremely easy to set up a business generating hundreds of pounds per day. Now when I try again, it’s nothing but hurdles and obstacles and arbitrary errors.

Somehow, i have created 2 listings for two of my products, using my father GS1 account, which isn’t related to these products. I listed them as Generic, and everything is fine.

So why is it that when i pay > £100 for a GS1 account with all matching brand names and manufacturer to my amazon seller account, I cannot create new listings? It says the EANs, UPCS don’t match the product I’m trying to list.

I am clicking the brand name on amazon as Generic, as we don’t yet have amazon approval for our brand ‘Superlative Collective’. Is this the issue? I don’t get why it would be, when I did the exact same using EANs from a GS1 account with no matching info.

As I said, completely arbitrary errors. How did those two listings which were not made 100% correctly get listed fine, but when I spend time and money to do it properly, nothing but errors?

Please someone help with this. It is SO disheartening especially when Seller Support is incompetent. I have to send 3 emails just to make them understand the first email. By the fourth, they’re talking to me about something irrelevant.

have you applied for Brand Registry or Brand Approval ?

Is Superlative Collective the named Brand against your EANs on GS1 ?

I have had similar problems with Brand myself.
However, I have had it confirmed directly from GS1 that the Brand and Sub-Brand fields you enter against a product EAN on the GS1 database is for your own internal use only. Amazon cannot access these fields. All Amazon is able to do is check the EAN is valid and what company/to whom it is registered to.
If you use the contact us section on the GS1 website they will be able to confirm this.
As Amazon can only see Company name then I ‘think’ they want Brand and/or Manufacturer on the product listing to match the Company name you registered with GS1. If it does not then they require you to get Brand Approval to sell the Brand. Generic used to be ok to be used to bypass this check but Ive seen several posts recently where now setting Brand to Generic no longer seems to work.
Have a play with the Brand and Manufacture fields when setting up the listing on Amazon and try using the name you registered with GS1 instead. Also try including this as part of the Title.

Same issue. I registed with GS1 as i thought i would try amazon FBA. I have 2 barcodes and im listing as generic. I am entering the GS1 barcode for the product into the amazon and it says EAN does not match product.

The brand name is Generic (as they wouldnt approve the brandname im using UKphoneshop - even though this brandname is splattered all over the product and i sent them photos).

Anyway im a sole trader seller (havnt signed up to the £25 a month option and frankly im happy i havnt as selling on this platform is becoming a total nightmare).

So i have an EAN and the product description name on GS1 is similar to the product category name im listing on here in amazon. GS1 it is listed as HDMI cable and here im putting it as 3m HDMI Cable and i get the EAN error that EAN UPS Dont match the product im trying to list. No idea what to do.

Its a complete nightmare on amazon these days and i suspect being a shareholder that this is why the SP is dropping more and more over time.

I undertysnad that something has failed between Amazon and GS1 no Idea what but I had the same issue as you and whilst it is a pain it can be corrected. Opened a case and after some delay I was asked for the follwoing detail:
We would request you to provide us with the following and also completely read the draft to learn more about the issue:

-GS1 certificate (or) screenshot from GS1 database showing the UPC/EAN and its owner(if available).
-Images i.e Proof of relation between the brand and UPC/EAN owner(if available)
-Error Screenshot with date and time-strap visible in the background
-Brand Name
-Manufacturer Name
-Complete Title
-UPC/EANs
Marketplace
-Batch ID (if available, which is facing 8572 error)
I managed to find all that and since tsending it to Amazon via the case it has been fine. Pain the backside but sorted now. Good luck hope that helps

That may be an issue.
I can only tell you my understanding of the situation.
To have a brand registered with Amazon I think you need to have it trade marked in the UK ( or region your selling in ) The name of the brand does not need to be the name of your company, so your company can hold the brand trade mark.
Your GS1 account needs to be registered to your company name (not your brand). A GS1 account can issue EAN codes for as many brands as your company has. To have those codes accepted by Amazon I think you must have the brand registered.

If your company has the trade mark for more than 1 brand you can also register multi brands with Amazon on the same company name account.

I hope that makes sense. If not feel free to ask anything else.

I am not sure but it seems that to sell your own product (ie a product that no one else sells) on Amazon you now need to have the brand registered.
