On Amazon - no. Don’t trust us. It’s a regular ask/complaint.

Apparently you can’t on ‘Buy Shipping’
Something we can all look forward to as it’s all part of giving the customer a better buying experience - a gobbledygook address label that has more chance of getting lost!

It’s one of the reasons I’m still resisting using ‘Buy Shipping’.
Customers often split addresses over 2 lines, repeat parts of the address, put England as the county, (my favourite), and concatenate the Post Code. RM are pretty good at allowing for these inconsistencies - I’m not so confident about many of the budget couriers who often struggle with any kind of non-standard address.
But the point is the format is there for efficiency and ease of reference and anything to assist the postie is worth doing, especially when you can so easily do it! Plus it just looks unprofessional.
Amazon’s refusal to allow edits is frustrating.
As a work-around, does anyone know if it’s possible to output the label as a pdf file rather than direct to printer?

Yes its going to cause issues because some buyers don’t even give you their full name and the address is missing some vital information such as house number or wrong post code. So you will have to check before printing and then contact the customer to provide an accurate delivery address.

Sometimes I have to hand write the Postcode because it’s over the line with the outer line running through the middle of it.

the robots are probably reading the barcode/qr code anyway

Buy Shipping is a terrible and badly programmed system.
Amazon could quite easily automatically format the address so its consistent, readable and correct. I use Packing Partner and it formats address it gets from Amazon/ebay etc automatically (splits long addresses, auto-capitalises first character of names, etc - it makes the label look so much more professional)… Unfortunately, as I then use it to buy my shipping label using the Amazon Buy Shipping API, the address printed goes back to the Amazon format. If I used PP to buy direct from Royal Mail then the label comes out perfectly.
What I fail to understand is why Amazon do not force all users to enter postcode only and then lookup the address and let customer choose full address from a drop down. Virtually every other place I order from does exactly this. Then all these problems would go away

This is a MAJOR bug bear of mine!!! WHY OH WHY cant people correctly enter their address details??? For the majority you only need to do it once and once it is locked in CORRECTLY there should be no further issues. I truly HATE one line address enterers! all lower case enterers! no house number/name enterers! and of course the non postcoders! LOL have I covered them all?

It is a pain, but you can not edit the address when buying shipping through Amazon. We sometime experience a long address where the postcode clashes with the printed lines on the label. We simply hand write the postcode again so the postie was clearly see it. If the address is too long and the printing does not give a clear, full address, we would just type our own address label and stick it to the parcel, under or beside the Amazon created address label. Better to the safe than have to give a refund! Hope this helps.

Rather than VTR we need VDA - Valid Delivery Address. From Amazon. As they are the party taking the funds, only right they get Customer Service Performance rates to meet for VDA. Say, 95%?
Could even start a thread and whenever we get a bad address, we say so and see how long the thread goes on for. Would give an idea of their performance.
