Product colour change but same barcode
Hi,
I am about to send a product into FBA for the first time having not sold it on Amazon before.
The item is basically an aerosol can. The colour of the can has changed recently and my stock is the older design. The contents, wording on the can, manufacturer part number and barcode are still the same.
The Amazon listing has the new product image, not the one I have.
The item is functional and the look of the can is very unlikely to matter to the customer.
What should I do?
Send the product to the current listing or create a new listing for the product?
Cheers for any guidance

You can’t create a new listing if the barcode is still the same as that will/should throw up an error message. This is a common problem with books, where publishers reissue a title with a new cover or dustjacket (eg when the book is made into a film or tv programme) but the book is still exactly the same edition and sellers with older stock get complaints of “Item not as described” (in other words, a fake). It’s obviously up to you whether you want to risk it

The 1st question is are there other sellers on the listing? If there are then you can’t change the listing. In that case if you send your items to fba you risk the not as described/ not genuine accusations.
If there are no other sellers on the listing you can open a case with SS and ask them to remove the old images. You’ll need to add the new images to the listing, and in the caselog provide images of the item with close-ups of the barcode showing that it’s the same ean. Be aware that the 1st contact with SS may be automated and may not garner the results you want. You can then ask them to review their decision, at which point you need to re-provide the images again.

There are other sellers on the item, including Amazon themselves.
I don’t want to risk ‘not as described’ complaints. If I create a new asin for the product, will that bypass the problem of having the same barcode on the product?
