Same price on website as on Amazon requirements
Is it true that if you sell something on your web site it has to be sold at the same price on Amazon…it’s just there was something I wanted to purchase on Amazon and the same item is over £40 cheaper on the own web site by the same seller

There certainly used to be that rule on .com but I don’t know whether it still exists. That rule is illegal in the EU though.

Of course, a seller’s own website can be far cheaper as they won’t be paying Amazon’s fees and can price accordingly.
Amazon, as Barry quite rightly said are unable to dictate prices in the EU or enforce them on their EU marketplaces but they do try to influence pricing with selling coach and various messages implying listings or privileges may be removed.

Quite some time ago Amazon introduced what they called ‘price parity’.
However, I believe this was deemed illegal and they had to drop it.

No, Amazon are no longer allowed to do this, it was ruled illegal.
They have now implemented a ‘fair price policy’ and won’t give you the buy box if they detect you are selling for significantly more on Amazon than is available elsewhere. How effective they are at this I don’t know.
