Small Business Certification for Non-U.S. Citizen but Legal U.S Entity

Hi All

I am a registered U.S. entity and have had a seller account for around 12 months. In my personal capacity, I am a resident alien with SSN and local banking, etc.

I am trying to register for a small business certification, and question number 1 is: Are the qualifying individual(s) of the firm U.S. citizens? When I choose "No" as an answer, a banner appears that states "Based on the response you have submitted, your organization is not eligible for certification at this time.

Does anyone have a workaround for this? I don't how a legal U.S. entity cannot qualify as a small business.

Hello there, my name is CR and wanted to hop in here to see if I could provide you with some additional information here.

This page contains FAQ's on certification that may be helpful to review. One of them from the above link is:

Will Amazon help sellers obtain certifications?

Amazon is not a certifying body, nor does Amazon provide assistance to obtain certifications. Sellers are expected to determine their own eligibility requirements for a certification and how to obtain the appropriate supporting documentation depending on the certification. A starting point for each certification is provided in the Amazon Business Glossary.

If you follow the link to the Amazon Business Glossary above you will find a lot of information on the different certifications including the below:

Registered Small Business

Registered Small Business certification indicates that the organization is a small business as defined by the Small Business Administration.

To claim this credential, sellers must have registered with the Small Business Administration as a Small Business. Registrants will be required to provide Amazon with their DUNS Number in order to access their online profile, available on SBA's Dynamic Small Business Search Database (DSBS). A business must meet specific criteria defined by the SBA in order to be considered a small business. The SBA's criteria are largely dependent on the business's industry, its annual receipts, and/or its number of employees. Sellers should visit the Small Business Administration (sba.gov) for additional information, eligibility criteria, and certification processes.

Hopefully this information helps.
