Royal Mail to start charging for labels
It was inevitable.
Order your labels now before the 19th January.

Excuse my ignorance but which labels? I pay for postage and print on my own labels.

Apologies, it's the 6x4 thermal labels.

Came in the post today and also on email.
Seems that 8% fuel surcharge (although fuel prices have dropped massively since this went up from 4% to 8%)
Green charge levy on business customers (stealth price raise)
Christmas surcharge on business customers (although Royal Mails quality of service is the worst in years with the largest ever fine for 2nd year running with even bigger QOS target losses) and your paying more for less service
2 price increases a year.
Now charging for things that were free to the business customer, seems this Czech billionaire wants to catch up with Musk and Bezos

Honestly it's a travesty. How long until we have to pay for the grey sacks, I wonder?
Part of the selling point of switching over to thermal labels was that the rolls would be free. Using the thermal labels doubles the length of time it takes me to deal with orders. More than doubles when we're busy.
I'm also surprised this thread doesn't have more people posting, as it affects a lot of people.
I tried to order another batch today and the product page wasn't showing when I was clicking it from the search bar. If anyone else has this issue, you can still reorder old orders for them on your order history.

That's how it showed for me on Friday and yesterday, but today I was getting a 'the page you are looking for no longer exists'. It might just be the website having problems because of the extra traffic.
Last Friday, right after the emails went out, was a nightmare. Couldn't log in to the shop at all, just kept timing out.
In a way it was true, as there's no way they were giving the labels out without costing them in, but it wasn't something that was broken down in any way through invoices or billing. They didn't track the labels you were ordering against the number of labels you were printing, so they at least weren't doing it directly.

Seems Royal Mail no longer wants Business from Small Businesses, driving them to hands of competitors.
I have been considering for sometime, after Xmas I will look into.
£4.99 a roll is an utter insult. Add to that the price increases, the fact that claims now are pretty much auto rejected no matter the reason or evidence plus they did away with X help account so the phones are gonna be crazy to get through on, worse than the 60 min wait from before.
And as for my so called Account Manager, they are almost non existent, just pop up once every 2 years.

It’s unsurprising, and I don’t blame Royal Mail for this one!
People have been claiming free labels and selling them on.
Scammers = This is why we can’t have nice things.

We had 3 emails in about 15 minutes, each one detailing how they'd found a way to charge us more. Charging for the labels was the icing on the cake although the Christmas surcharge is particularly galling as when we tried to contact our account manager she was out helping with deliveries!

This was announced months ago and I spoke to them and if you send tracked post as well as normal you should be fine. Its to stop people selling them on Ebay.
