DX Couriers any good?
Does anyone have experience of using DX couriers? For small (ish) packages 5kg.
We are using Parcelforce and Fedex at present both having some good points and very bad points. DX is not an outfit I am familiar with and someone suggested giving them a whirl as a test. Probably on the slower free economy items - anyone know anything about them? Not worried about VTR as we would try them through website orders first.

They are basically the same as each other. good and bad aspects.
According to a 2022 survey, 61 percent of respondents from the United Kingdom rated DPD as the best parcel delivery provider in their country. 55 percent rated the longstanding UK based courier company, Royal Mail.
So i guess the rest fall below these stats; the best thing to do is try a low value item posting. Perhaps post something to yourself or a friend as a test.

I’ve only ever used them in an add-hoc fashion via parcel hubs like P2G so can’t really say.
However, we get a lot of parcels from them for my wifes business and they’re always very porfessional and timely. Although they always appear to be in 7.5 tonne lorries, even for 1 kg parcels.
Other than that I do know they manage their couriers far more diligently than most other courier companiess. I used to run a courier company and had accounts with most where they’d use me to take up their slack and DX were on it 24/7. They’d be calling and checking you at all points. They were very strict on timing and even had (unsure if this is still the case) the UK Passport Office contract. This I took as a commendation of their accuracy.
They were also notoriously hard to get a job for as a driver or courier, again they were super diligent and vetted everyone they employed inc Criminal checks etc. Unlike other places like Yodel etc where you can get a job with a driving license and an alarm clock.
Unsure if that helps.

Had pretty bad experience with them as I used them through my 3PL. They were good before Q4. When the volumes hit in Q4 they couldn’t handle the volume. Also they have different tier of services. Think what I used was the cheaper one called ‘home’ or something, don’t quote me on this one. Basically, the policy said something like we couldn’t put the claim through unless we were using the other service which were higher priced.

I’ve sent thousands through them, no worse than anybody else,
also their tracking uploads in VTR

Thanks all we cannot use DPD as they will not ship liquids in the quantities we ship. Never tried UPS but meeting the DX rep tomorrow.
