Royal Mail Shipping to Northern Ireland
Hi All, hope this helps.
I recently had several items returned to me as “failed electronic customs clearance” after a bit of checking they were all to NI.
After a long winded convo with Royal Mail today, i was told they are aware of this issue and its due to changes with Irish customs and RM is waiting on an update as to what they need to do.
Asked if there was another way to ship i was advised NO. All items sent to NI at present will be rejected. Further more!
They will not be refunding any postage cost paid even though they are aware
They are advising people to try and send again (yep makes perfect sense)
They have not made this public “yet” as they are waiting to find out what changes they need to make in order to update there customers.
So there still taking orders and charging accounts knowing full well its going to be rejected and there is no idea of when this will be resolved!
So if your getting these returns, now you know why.

We ship a fair bit to NI with no issues, via RM Click and Drop.
My guess is that you’re missing some info in your shipments.

Since March this year for all our orders to NI we stick on an electronic CN22 label which includes our EORI number and the item’s HSS code for this very reason. All accepted so far

My deliveries to Northern Ireland are OK
- I attached 2 copies of the Invoice on the outside
- this seems to help
All my deliveries to the Republic of Ireland ( Eire ) have been returned since July 1st
- I am stopping sales to Ireland and cancelling / refunding any orders that slip through

I don’t think Royal Mail have properly adjusted to the changes in July.
For example, you can’t send printed matter with an IOSS number.
